Waterjet – Inlay Flooring FAQs
A Waterjet is an industrial tool which cuts a variety of materials, like metal and stone, using a very high-pressure jet of water (60,000psi) and an abrasive substance called garnet. The waterjet is the most versatile process because it is able to cut almost any type of material. It is also a very precise cutting process. It has a narrow kerf width, allowing fine contours to be cut, and producing high tolerance parts. It is a slower process and more expensive process when compared to plasma on most metals.
We can cut almost any material except tempered glass.
A waterjet can cutup to 6” thick steel.
Material Hardness: As you know, the harder the material the slower the machine cuts and time is money
Material Thickness: Same rationale as material hardness
Design Detail: Waterjet cutting is based on inches to cut. If your design is very detailed and intricate (i.e. more inches) it will cost more. Basically, everything boils down to time. If you have a very soft, thin, resilient material and you want to cut a simple wave it will be very inexpensive. If you want to cut a very detailed mosaic pattern from two inch black absolute granite, it will take more time and cost more. If you have a tight budget, let ENSO assist you with ‘reducing inches’ and material selection.
Edge Quality: A higher quality edge requires that the machine cut slower. Depending on your project, we may be able to lower cost by reducing the smoothness of the edge.
Yes, we have a design and programming department to assist you. We can take your files and adapt them for waterjet fabrication or create our own based on your specifications or drawings.
It’s great to have but not required. It does save some time during the design phase.
Our design and programming department works primarily with Auto-CAD however we can work with any vector-based drawing file. If you don’t have a file, don’t worry. We can create the files we need and you will have the opportunity to approve them when we provide shop drawings.
We are happy to quote materials or work with customer supplied materials. When we are doing custom flooring inlays, 95% of the time, our clients supply materials.
ENSO typically doesn’t install flooring projects because most of our clients for this product are flooring contractors and that’s what they do. If you need installation, we can provide you with an expert.
No problem. If a part breaks it can be replaced by referring to part numbers in our installation map.

Metal Screen FAQs
We can make one screen as large as 72”x144”. We can also adjust the pattern so that the seam is minimized between panels if your opening requires multiple panels.
Yes, many times we frame out the screen with a square or rectangle tube for rigidity and mounting purposes.
This depends on the application and the site environments (material to which you are mounting). Once we know more about your project, we can recommend one of several ways to mount them. We can also provide you with color matched mounting hardware.
We can drawn and cut any pattern you want whether it be geometric, organic, repeating, fading, very open or not so open. Get creative and find the pattern that speaks to you!
Metal screens have range of pricing and it depends on the material type, thickness, pattern and finish. The most common metal screen is 1/8” aluminum. The price ranges from $20 to $30 per square foot depending on material type, thickness and pattern that you chose.
This depends on the metal type, thickness and the amount of metal cut out. Each screen could weigh 30 to 120 lbs depending on these factors.
The most common material we quote is 1/8” aluminum. Material type and thickness really depends on the application. We can also make metal screens from Corten steel (weathering steel), stainless steel, brass, copper, acrylic, wood, and mdf.
We powder coat most of our screens and offer many colors and texture options that you can select from. We also offer patina finishes on certain types of metal. Email us and we will send you the brochures of color options.
Yes, after your order is placed, we will submit a technical drawing that contains all the details project for your approval. Once we receive your approval, we will begin fabrication.
Typical lead times are 4-6 weeks after the shop drawing has been approved but this really depends on the quantity of panels
Metal screens are shipped in custom wood containers lined with foam to ensure they arrive undamaged. We will coordinate with you on shipping to be sure the best option is chosen.
Our panels are considered decorative & are designed to withstand the harshest elements. However we do not warranty our panels due to the variety of elements that are outside of our control.
